Rules and Regulation
The Amateur and Professional Groups
- The Amateur group includes competitors who have not studied music at any professional music schools/colleges/ universities/conservatoires.
- The Professional Group includes competitors who have been, are currently, or will be studying music at professional music schools/colleges/ universities/conservatoires; or any competitors who can conquer professional compositions and concertos.
- A competitor may not participate in more than one category.
- Competitors have the right to participate in a group that is superior to their age (for example, a 9-year-old competitor can join Group D for 16-18 year olds). But a competitor cannot take part in the group that is lower than his or her age (for example, a 16-year-old competitor cannot participate in Group B for 9-11-year-old competitors.
Repertoire and program
- When performing in any round of the competition, the competitor has the choice to play from memory or not to memorize the music.
- Competitors in the Amateur group can play any piano compositions, from Classical to Pop Covers, or piano arrangements, which are not limited to Classical piano compositions.
- Competitors in the Professional group can only play classical or arranged works, from the pre-Baroque to the post-romantic and modern eras. Do not play Pop or Easy-listening music or movie soundtracks
Video Requirements – the Online Round in Vietnam
- Each competitor only uploads 1 video, continuously recording all pieces for the Online Round.
- The video must be shot at a fixed angle.
- The angle of the shot should show the competitor’s entire body, most importantly both hands, pedals, and facial expressions.
- The video must not be cut and edited with any sound or visual effects. Violations may result in the competitor being disqualified from the competition.
- The video must be uploaded to YouTube, and not set to Private, after submitting the link to the Grand Opus Performing Competition.
- Grand Opus Performing Competition reserves the right to store, produce, and broadcast the competitors’ photos, videos, and other information related to the competition, without paying royalty fee. Grand Opus Performing Competition owns all material produced in the competition.
Registration Deadline for each Round:
- Contact your country representative for the exact dates and time
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- The organisers reserve the right to disqualify competitors who register later than the competition’s registration deadline.
Face-to-face competition
- Once chosen the time slot for the audition, competitors cannot change the time slot.
- Competitors need to be present at least 30 minutes before their competition time.
- If the performance exceeds the time limit by 10%, the Jury may not stop the performance, but only evaluate the competitor based on the duration according to the time limit specified for each category.
- Competitors will receive a scorecard and feedback sheet after each round.
- Competitors must be accompanied by their parents/guardians for the entire participation in the competition. Parents/guardians are solely responsible for the safety of minors during competition and all related events.
- The competitor pays all travel and living expenses.
- Grand Opus Performing Competition is not responsible for any damage or loss of personal property. Competitors and parents are responsible for their own belongings.
Prizes and Certificates
- Results after each round will be announced on the Grand Opus Performing Competition’s website and social networks, as well as sent directly to competitors and parents.
- Competitors who are not chosen by the judges to proceed to the orchestra final, will receive Certificate for Participation.
- All prizes and certificates will be awarded directly to the competitors at the Gala Concert
- If the competitor cannot receive the award and certificate in person, please contact the admin team to receive it by post
The Advisors and The Jury
- The Jury’s decision is final and unappealable.
- Members of the Advisory Board do not participate in the competition judging process. The Advisors only support the competitors throughout the competition, by sharing their opinions through a seris of videos or interacting directly with the competitors in the masterclasses. The artists on the Advisory Board will teach the masterclasses before the Solo Round takes place.
- Each competitor is judged by 3-5 juries, and each jury will mark independently, providing their own scorecards and feedback sheets, based on a 100-point scale.
Information, Private and Confidentiality
- Personal information collected from the application will be shared with the juries and members of the admin team in accordance with the following regulations. When registering for the competition, the competitor and the parents/guardians must accept these guidelines.
- To the juries, only the following information about the competitor will be shared: Full name, age, category, repertoire.
- To the admin team, in order to operate the competition as well as inform related issues conveniently to the competitors and parents, the following information about the competitor is shared: Full name, age, category, repertoire, contact information, scorecards and the judge’s feedbacks after each Round.
- Results of each round will be announced on the Grand Opus Performing Competition website and social media. A detailed feedback sheet including scores and comments is sent to each competitor individually.
- The final results of the competition as well as the names and photos of the winners will be announced on the Grand Opus Performing Competition’s websites and social networks. Noticeably, the media such as newspapers and magazines may also publish information about the results.
- By submitting the registration form, the competitor/parent/guardian confirms that he or she has read, understood and agreed to the terms and conditions mentioned in the Grand Opus Performing Competition. If the competitor does not comply with the competition terms and conditions, Grand Opus Performing Competition reserves the right to cancel their application without refund.
