Biography
South Korean pianist Sun Young Ju started playing at the age of four, and has broad performing experiences as a soloist and chamber musician.
She has been recognized at numerous international piano competitions, and has received top prizes in Korea and United States, including 2nd prize at the Franz Liszt International Piano Festival and Competition in Baltimore – Washington D.C, 1st prize at the American Protégé International Piano and String Competition which led to her New York Carnegie Hall debut, 1st prize at Hays Young Artist Competition at Hays, 1st prize in Kansas Music Teachers Association Competition in Kansas, 1st prize in University of Kansas Concerto Competition.
Ms. Ju was selected to participate and perform at international music festivals and competitions, including Vietnam Connection Music Festival and Violin Competition, Concours Grieg in Norway, Liszt 200 International Duo Piano Festival in Chicago, International Isidor Basic Piano Memorial Competition in Serbia, Grieg Young Artists Festival and Piano Competition in Florida and Brian Lewis Young Artist Chamber Concert in Ottawa.
Ju graduated from the Seoul Arts High School and the Ewha Womans University in South Korea, and received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Kansas in USA.
She has served as an adjunct professor at Tabor College in USA.
Ju came to Vietnam in 2012, performed with Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) in the concert for celebrating the 20th anniversary of friendship between Vietnam and Korea. Since 2012, Ju has been active in Vietnam as a celebrated concert pianist and chamber musician.
Currently, Ju serves on the piano faculty at the Nguyen Tat Thanh University, a music director of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Orchestra and a board member of Saigon international music competition.
