Biography

Merited Artist Tăng Thành Nam won Second Prize at the first national “Autumn Music” competition and First Prize at the second in 1993. He graduated at the top of his class in the Violin major from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music in 1996 and was honored with the Young Talent Medal from the Government in 1998.
In the same year, he received a scholarship to study at the National Conservatory of Music in Boulogne Billancourt, France. He graduated top of his master’s class in violin performance in 2002, under the guidance of Professor Maryvonne Le Dizes, who had won first prize at the Paganini International Violin Competition.
Merited Artist Tăng Thành Nam was invited to perform with the Asian Youth Orchestra and toured extensively in the United States, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and many Asian countries during the years 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1998. He also performed in Luxembourg (2000), Bangkok (2002), Laos (2009), Japan (2009), Texas and New Hampshire (2007). In 2010, he held a solo recital in New York, and in 2012, he performed as the concertmaster of the Myanmar National Symphony Orchestra. In 2014, he performed with the Trondheimsolistene Orchestra in Norway.
Currently, Merited Artist Tăng Thành Nam is a solo violinist and concertmaster of the HBSO Symphony Orchestra, and he also teaches at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. He is recognized as one of the leading violinists in Vietnam.
